Why Ashley Became a Doula
"When I decided to become a doula, I was working for a pregnancy resource center for women facing unplanned pregnancies. I felt that no one, whether thirteen or forty-five, should have to give birth without the tender care of someone whose sole job it was to assist and support them.
After I had trained as a doula, began to attend births, and later gave birth myself, I found a wealth of information that I felt everyone should know, and a community of compassionate and selfless professionals. I also found that birthing women are often at both their strongest and most vulnerable in many ways.
Families are important! Our children are the future! I am so happy to assist in helping mothers and babies to have the best possible beginning. Being "Mama" to my children and "mothering the mother" is my heart's work."
