BELLY CASTING & HENNA BELLIES
What is a Belly Cast?
A belly cast is a plaster cast made of an expecting mother’s beautiful pregnant form. It enables the mother to always remember how she looked during her pregnancy, and the special time she shared with her baby as he or she grew within her.
Some mothers choose to leave the cast in its raw, natural form, some mothers choose to paint the cast themselves, and still others get the cast painted for them.

What is Henna?
Henna is a paste created by the crushed leaves of henna plants, which have a natural staining ability. The use of the paste to create body decoration, or "Mehndi Art," originated in India. Mehndi art has been used in India, Africa, and the Middle East for thousands of years and has long been used to decorate the skin of brides for their marriage ceremonies.
Henna has the ability to create an individual, detailed temporary “tattoo”.
The paste we use is all natural green henna mixed with lemon juice to draw out the dye in the leaves and oil to enhance the stain. No PPD Black Henna is ever used. No chemicals are added.

How Does it Work?
The paste is applied to the skin in a freehand drawing fashion. After drying for 15 to 20 minutes the design is then taped or sealed. The paste needs to be left alone to dye the skin for a minimum of 4 hours, overnight is better. The longer the paste sits on the skin the better your henna will look and the longer it will last.
After you remove the dried paste the color will be orange-ish. Your design will darken over the first 48 hours to a deep reddish brown color. It will turn more brown on lighter skin and more red on darker skin. It will last about 2 to 3 weeks.
